1ST YEAR ANNIVERSARY: CUPP/IPAC score Oborevwori high

…says he has turned Delta to a construction site

The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP and the Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC in Delta State have commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for turning the entire state to a huge construction site within one year in office.

At a joint press conference in Asaba to critically appraise Governor Oborevwori’s one year in office, IPAC Chairman in the state, Prince Henry Eze and his CUPP counterpart, Chief Efe Tobor Josiah, congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his one year anniversary and thanked him for his efforts at connecting communities with roads and bridges for sustainable development.

Eze who briefed on behalf of the two groups, said the most iconic of the infrastructural projects was the award of a N78 billion contract to Julius Berger for the construction of three mega bridges, cloverleaf and road expansion works in Warri and Effurun.

“CUPP/IPAC laud Governor Oborevwori on the construction of other road networks and bridges scattered all over the three senatorial districts of the state and for attracting new faculties in the University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.

“We also commend Governor Oborevwori for his accomplishments in the construction of administrative and faculty buildings and 2km internal roads in the University.”

Speaking further, Prince Eze commended Governor Oborevwori for being workers friendly by paying the backlog of over N5.5 billion promotion arrears to civil servants and also facilitated payment of N40 billion to local government pensioners and retired primary school teachers.

He said: “We also thank Governor Oborevwori for the recruitment of over 3,000 teaching and non-teaching staff for primary schools across the 25 local government areas of the state.

“Students of Delta State origin numbering over 60,000 in tertiary institutions across the country have received their 2022/2023 bursary while also approving 25% reduction in acceptance fees in the four state owned universities.”

The CUPP and IPAC leaders also hailed Governor Oborevwori for providing palliative measures to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on workers, widows, vulnerable groups, the aged and vulnerable segments of the society.

“The State More Grant Scheme has recorded tremendous results as over 5,000 beneficiaries in targeted trades/artisans have been empowered recently with direct beneficiaries of the Delta COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) has exponentially increased from 36,353 to 110,841 within one year of the Oborevwori’s administration.

“All these feats were achieved without Governor Oborevwori borrowing a kobo in the last one year and following from the above, we can confidently say that CUPP have been vindicated by adopting Governor Oborevwori as their consensus candidate in the 2023 Governorship elections as he has even surpassed our expectations,” Eze added.
