The Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije has assured members of staff of government efforts to improve work condition in the Delta State Civil service.
The Commissioner made this statement during an interactive meeting with the Staff of the Ministry of Finance at Asaba.
Sir Tilije at the interactive session harped on the need for improved punctuality and compliance with the Delta State Civil Service rules, while advising members of staff to be guided by their conscience in all they do.
He encouraged everyone to sit at their duty posts and deliver on the job with as little lapses as possible, promising to look into their work related challenges in order to improve their work conditions where necessary and enhance productivity.
The Commissioner expressed his desire to know members of staff individually and hoped that the meeting would be held on monthly basis, even as he stated that his open door policy is extended to every member of Staff and not just the management level.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Cornelius Semiteje, welcomed the Commissioner, reiterating his commitment and that of the members of Staff to give their best and utmost support to ensure his success in overseeing the affairs of the Ministry.
The members of staff stated their challenges ranging from dysfunctional vehicles and inadequate work tools, to un-conducive work environment and lack of up to date training, seminars and workshops for staff amongst others.
