The new Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije has called on management, staff and subsidiaries of the Ministry to be sincere and give their unalloyed cooperation and support in the delivery of service to achieve a Stronger Delta dream of the Okowa administration.

Sir Tilije who officially resumed duty at the Ministry made the call during a handover note ceremony in his office in Asaba.

According to Sir Tilije, “I know it is going to be extremely challenging but I will make myself available as a student to all of you so that you continuously teach me and this will enable us provide a very strong platform that would create a successful interface between us and His Excellency the Governor. That is the only way we can say we have succeeded having the backing of the Governor who is the monitor, the supervisor and also the evaluator”.

The Commissioner advised the staff against engaging in corrupt practices, saying, that they must shun every act of corruption, have a clear conscience, and do all that is needed to take the Ministry to an enviable height.

Sir Tilije expressed his delight that the two subsidiaries of the Ministry are managed by women thereby creating a gender sensitive environment in the ministry.

He told the staff he would operate an open door policy whereby he would be accessible to every member of staff and also urged them to cooperate with him.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Cornelius Semiteje, welcomed the commissioner and pledged the unwavering support and cooperation of the Management and Staff of the ministry to the commissioner to help him succeed in his assignment.

In their separate remarks, the Accountant General, Mr Cyril Agbele; the Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Sir John Onyeme; the Managing Director, Delta Trust Mortgage Bank, Mrs Ruby Okoro; the Managing Director, Universal Investment Development Company (UIDC), Mrs Mary Ohonhen pledged to cooperate with the commissioner and make his tenure successful.

Also present at the event were directors and other members of staff of the ministry.

High point of the event was the hand over of the handover note to the Commissioner by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Cornelius Semiteje.
