Cornelieus Akpojotor Semiteje is the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Asaba. Prior to his posting to Ministry on 15 June, 2016, he had served in the same capacity in the Directorate of Special Infrastructure, Governor’s Office, Asaba (2011 to 2015) and the Ministry of Water Resources Development (2015 to 2016). Mr. Semiteje was appointed Permanent Secretary on 23rd December, 2013, after spending over 22 years in the Delta Civil Service, as an Administrative Officer, playing various roles in the growth and development of the State, following its creation in 1991.
Some of the positions held by Mr. Semiteje in the service of Delta State over the years include Director of Establishments, Labour and Productivity (2001), Director of Recruitment and Promotions, Civil Service Commission (2002 to 2011), Chairman, Board of Directors, Universal Investments and Development Company (UIDC), Plc (2006 to 2008) and member, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (2006 to 2011).
Mr. Semiteje holds a Bachelor of Science (2nd Class Honours, Upper Division) in Business Administration (1986) and a Master of Business Administration (1996) from the University of Benin, Benin City. He was recognized as a ‘Distinguished Alumnus’ of the University of Benin, by the University Alumni Association on 15th November, 2014. Mr. Semiteje is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management and a Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senator (life member) as well as a member of the Church Warden’s Association of the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Zappa, Asaba.
Mr. Semiteje is married to his lovely wife, Francisca, and they are blessed with Amanda and Martin.
